Minor ailments

The practice is part of the minor ailments scheme.  It allows patients to get advice, treatment and medication from the pharmacist (chemist) without having to see the doctor. The reception staff will be able to assist you with this.

Fit notes

If you are off work due to illness for up to 7 days you can fill in a self-certificate, which you can get from your employer. If you are ill for more than 7 days you will need a doctor's certificate for your employer. If your employer requests a sick form from you and you are ill for less than 7 days, we can issue a private certificate however a fee will be charged. The doctor may be able to issue you with a fit note over the phone. 

baby Babies

All babies immunisations and 8 week developmental checks will be done by appointments with your GP.  There is also a clinic at New River Green Children's Centre Ramsey Walk, London N1 2SX on Thursdays 9.30am-11.30am. This clinic is run by the Health Visiting team.

Breastfeeding

The practice encourages breastfeeding, although we do not have a separate breastfeeding area. If you would like greater privacy to feed your baby please ask reception..

Disabled Access

The practice is on the ground floor and there is disabled access to all consulting rooms.  There is a toilet suitable for people with disabilities.

Teenagers

We are always sympathetic to teenage health problems. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment to come in on your own to see the doctor or nurse. You will be treated kindly and in the strictest confidence.

Women's health

Family Planning and Well Woman Clinic every Tuesday 4pm to 6pm walk-in clinic, no appointment needed. The following is offered, pill check, IUCD removal, Depo injections caps and diaphragms, cervical smears, HRT, HPV. Emergency contraception (Morning after pill) is available at the practice anytime during our opening times.

Cervical smear tests - all women between 25 and 64 should have regular smears, ideally every 3 years (every 5 years after the age of 50). We encourage all our women patients to come to the Well Woman Clinic or make an appointment with a practice nurse. We have a recall system, which will automatically invite you when your smear is due.

IUDs (Coils) - these are fitted by appointment only usually on Tuesday. Drop into the Well Women Clinic for pre assessment

We also offer sexual health screening.

Drop in Blood Test Clinic

Drop in Blood Test Clinic on Tuesday-Thursday morning. 8am-11.30am.   There is an additional Clinic at Islington Central on Saturday a.m. 08:30-12.00.  

Travel advice and vaccinations

We provide information and advice and most vaccinations. If you are going on holiday you need to contact the practice at least 8 weeks before you travel. Longer trips involving several countries may mean a course of vaccinations. Please phone the nurse to check. There may be a charge for some of the vaccinations. Please note we are a Yellow Fever Centre.

Welfare rights

Camden Citizen Advice holds regular sessions in the practice. They can help with benefits, give advice and information on community care and housing, and refer you to other services. Please make an appointment with our receptionist.

iCope provides free talking therapy to adults for problems such as stress, worry, depression and insomnia.

Vaccinations

Flu

We have a flu campaign every Winter when we offer immunisation to patients over 65 or those in the 'at-risk' groups.

We offer the pneumonia vaccination to all patients over 65 or those in the 'at-risk' groups.

We offer shingles vaccination to the eligible patients.

We offer full range to all children in the eligible age group.

We can arrange for language interpreters to be at pre-booked appointments. However, there are limited interpreters available. If you need an interpreter please inform reception when making the appointment.

 

Sign Language

We can also arrange sign language interpreters for patients. We are also happy to communicate by fax, we now have video link interpreting in the practice.
